So you are interested in ESG investing and are looking for a fund with an ESG strategy. Doesn’t it make sense to first ask if the fund itself follows ESG principles? After all, if the fund doesn’t hold itself to ESG standards, how confident can you be in its application of ESG principles to others? Not to mention you might be supporting a non-ESG business — defeating your purpose. The good news is that some ESG funds seem to be getting gender diversity right at least — although there is still a lot of work to do, as this article discusses. Unfortunately, it also highlights how male-dominated the rest of finance is. In any event, do your homework on the ESG funds you pick.
